You can create a campaign to fundraise for an appeal at any time. mycause campaigns are fully customisable and easy to set up. Watch this video to find out how, or see the instructions below.
Step 1:
Log in to mycause and navigate to ‘Campaigns & Appeals’ on the left menu of the partner dashboard.
Click the ‘Create a campaign’ button.
Step 2:
Enter the main details for your campaign. The campaign name here is for your internal reporting and does not display on the page. For example, End of Financial Year appeal 2025.
Set the close date of your campaign. This is the date when the campaign will stop accepting donations. The campaign will begin accepting donations when you publish it.
TARGET
The target consists of two parts, the target amount, and the multiplier.
The multiplier allows you to add a matching component to your campaign when you have secured major donors or 'matchers'.
If you choose a x2 then all donations are displayed as double. For example, a $100 donation will display as $200.
The target amount is the amount you aim to raise for this campaign. If you have matching funds, you can also add a bonus or 'secondary' target with a different multiplier.
TEMPLATE
Next, choose your page template. There are four to choose from, with two things to consider. First, do you want a large banner, or a media gallery at the top of the page? Second, do you want a donation widget with impact labels, or simple dollar handles? You can preview the templates before selecting one. All four templates are customisable.
Once you’ve selected a template, click the ‘Create campaign’ button on the bottom right.
Step 3:
To customise your page, first click the button at top that reads 'Colours'. This will set up your primary campaign colour. Select a colour or paste your hex colour. You’ll see your generated colour palette made of shades similar to your main colour. You can also upload an image, like your logo, to generate your palette.
Once you are happy with the main page colour, click ‘save’.
You’ll notice the setting cog icons throughout the page. These are how you customise the campaign elements.
Go through all the elements on the page and update the settings as needed.
COUNTDOWN CLOCK
For the countdown clock you can set the date and time the countdown begins and ends, the text that appears before and after the countdown begins, and whether the countdown displays in days or hours. Once there is less than one day, the countdown will always display in hours.
LOGO
The logo displayed is your logo in the mycause system, but you can upload a different one if you wish.
DONATION WIDGET
The donation widget is probably the most important part of the page. Note the different settings you can show or hide. You can change the text that displays at the top, and you need to update the dollar amounts. In this impact widget, you should also add text that correlates to the dollar amounts. You can also remove or add dollar handles. For campaigns without a matching component, you can turn on a regular giving option. Finally, you can choose to show or hide the organisation name and logo. There is an option here to copy the widget code so you can embed it in your website or anywhere else.
BANNER
For the banner behind the widget, or in the case of gallery templates, the image beside the widget, click on the cog to upload images and video.
Add a campaign page title by clicking on the pencil icon, and typing the title you want your supporters to see. Click away when you’re done.
Next, you can update the rest of the settings, like adding matcher logos. Customise the ‘share’ button by selecting the cog beside the button to add a share image. That image will be shared on Facebook and other social media.
Write your campaign text and format it however you want using the text editing options. Choose if you want to add a second media gallery, and make sure to adjust display settings for donors beside the donor view. You may want to show or hide donor messages.
Finally, you can add more sponsor/matcher logos at the bottom of the page if you wish, and include your social media profile links.
Once you have updated all the settings, click the preview buttons in the top right corner. The desktop preview will open in a new tab to show how your page will look. The mobile preview will open a pop up that emulates a mobile screen.
Step 4:
When you are happy with how the page looks, click the ‘Back to dashboard’ button in the top left corner. You will land on your Campaign Dashboard.
When you are ready, click to ‘Publish’ your campaign in the campaign settings, or by selecting the status in the top left corner (under the campaign name) and then click ‘View’ to open your published campaign page.
