You can create custom extra fields to display on your donation forms and widgets which will allow you to capture any specific donor information you may require, such as "how did you hear about us?", "which project would you like to support?", or "can we contact you via SMS?" for example.
To create your custom extra fields go to your Partner Dashboard, and proceed to 'Donation Forms' on the left hand side, then 'Global settings'. Once there, select 'Custom extra fields'.
Custom extra fields must all be contained within a section. Sections are used to group questions that may be relevant to each other. Each section needs a name, but you can choose to hide this so donors cannot see it when they make a donation.
SECTIONS
Sections also allow you to decide for which forms your questions will appear. You may wish to include questions such as "how did you hear about us?" in your donation forms, but not for community fundraising pages, as you already know the answer.
As seen in the image below, sections of questions can be displayed or hidden from;
- Donation forms (which can be found under 'Direct donation forms and widgets' in the left menu),
- Community fundraising pages (meaning peer to peer pages created by your supporters),
- Campaigns (meaning fundraising campaigns that you set up as the charity), and
- Event fundraising pages (meaning pages created by participants of an event you create)
To show a section in a form type, make sure the toggle is set to 'yes'.
Within a section you can add questions and choose how they will be answered using the 'type' drop down. Types include text fields, drop downs, or check boxes.
QUESTIONS
For each question, enter a name for the column in your reporting so you know what the answers in the column relate to, and use the label section to write your question as you'd like it to appear on the donation form/widget.
ACTIONS
Next to each question, there is an 'actions' button that lets you hide/show, delete, or set/unset a question as required.
NOTE: once a question is deleted, it cannot be recovered, so it is recommended to just hide questions you no longer want to display on your donation forms.
NOTE: questions that are set as required must be answered before the donor can move on to the next step of entering their payment method.
Once you are happy with your custom extra fields, click the 'save' button at the very bottom to apply the changes you've made.
