At mycause, we offer a range of fundraising products designed specifically to help charities engage supporters, raise funds and grow their impact. While the products share the same goal of making fundraising easier, each is designed for a different fundraising need and supporter journey.
With several options available, it can be helpful to understand exactly how they differ, including how each product works, who can use it, what fundraising features are available, and when you might choose one over another.
Our products:
- Donation Forms & Widgets
- Campaigns & Appeals
- Events
- Fundraising Websites
The definitions:
mycause allows you to embed our sleek, easy to fill out, donation widgets using a few short lines of HTML code. Embedding a donation widget allows you to take donations at any time, through your own website.
Donation Forms & Widgets do not have an end date, and are not associated with any fundraising page or campaign, so the donations made through your widget cannot be seen by the public.
Donations made through your donation widget are referred to as 'Direct donations'.
On mycause, Campaigns & Appeals refer to standalone pages that ask the community for donations. Campaigns can be set up at any time, for free, in minutes, using our simple Campaign builder.
Campaign pages have a close date (chosen by you at the time of setup) and usually revolve around a specific project (e.g funding a piece of equipment) or time of year (e.g End of Financial Year).
Campaigns differ from fundraising pages as they are more branded and customisable for your charity, and include gamification features such as dollar matching technology, and countdown clocks.
Unlike donation widgets, campaign pages can show a full list of donors to the campaign, as well as display a target and the amount raised.
3. Events
Events on mycause refer to peer-to-peer online fundraising associated with a participation activity, such as a walk/run. Events allow a charity to create a mini site which allows their supporters to sign up, and get their own fundraising page.
Fundraising pages created through an event are branded for the event, and donations feed into the event total.
mycause Events include settings for paid registration, Q+As, merchandise sales, and team or individual fundraising. Each event has a 'landing page' built on a drag and drop web builder, with many elements to encourage registering and fundraising, including progress bars and top fundraiser blocks.
The DIY events system is easy to use, and the event dashboard provides comprehensive management of your event fundraising pages.
Like Events, mycause Fundraising Websites allow your supporters to create peer-to-peer fundraising pages, however, while events are generally associated with a walk/run, Fundraising Websites are open at all times, and allow supporters to fundraise at a time, and in a way, that suits them, e.g for their birthday, or in memory.
Fundraising Websites are designed for you by the mycause team for a one off fee, based on your requirements and aesthetic. Fundraising pages created through your Fundraising Website are branded for your charity from start to finish, including the URL, which can be white labeled.
Your Fundraising Website also includes a management portal, where you can monitor and edit Fundraising Pages associated with the Fundraising Website.
NOTE: mycause receipts on your behalf for all donations made through any of our products. You can view all of your donations, no matter their source, through your Partner Dashboard.
